Simple No-Sew Linen Napkins
I love the change of seasons and Fall is upon us—and that means Thanksgiving is near!
It is my favourite holiday aside from Christmas.
I begin to think cozy thoughts of family gatherings. To make them extra special, I love a touch of handmade goodness on the table at dinner.
These napkins are so easy to make and require no sewing.
Enjoy!

Supplies:
Pure Linen Fabric
Measuring Tape
Scissors
Paper for Template
Stick Pins
Round Toothpick
How to:
1. Cut out an 18” x 18” paper square to use as a pattern for your napkins.
2. Lay out unwashed linen and pin the square pattern to linen along the finished edge.
3. Cut out your square and remove the pattern.
4. Starting on one edge, use the pointed end of a toothpick to separate the threads. Gently pull out the threads.
5. Remove enough threads to create about a 1/2 inch fray. If the fabric is not cut exactly straight with the threads, pull enough threads until the shortest portion of fray is 1/2”.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the remaining three edges.
7. If the frayed edges are uneven, trim to 1/2”.
8. The napkins can now be washed and dried on a cool setting. They will shrink about 1/2 inch.
10. Remove any loose threads and iron to flatten major folds but it will have a beautiful linen texture.
Extra Notes:
I lay the pattern along the finished edge so that it lines up as straight as possible with the threads of the linen. The threads run straight so if the fabric is cut too crooked more threads will have to be removed in order to get enough of a frayed edge.
